Council invites feedback on draft community engagement strategy

Published: 23 Aug 2017

Logan City Council is seeking feedback on its new draft community engagement strategy.

The draft Community Engagement Strategy 2017-2021 details how Council currently engages the community and how it plans to encourage residents to share their views on decisions that affect them.

City Lifestyle and Customer Services Committee Chairperson Councillor Steve Swenson said Council wants to improve how it engages with residents on significant projects.

“The new draft engagement strategy will help guide how Council engages with the community over the next few years,” Cr Swenson said.

“We want members of the community to have their say on matters that are important to them, and to know that their voices are being heard.

“We encourage the community to check out the draft engagement strategy, then let us know how they want to be engaged, and which Council services and projects they want to have a say in.

Council can't always do exactly what a group or individuals want us to, but community opinion is one of the vital factors that need to be considered when we make decisions.”

To help improve engagement with the community, Council has developed a quick quiz that residents can take to find out their preferred engagement style.

Copies of the draft Community Engagement Strategy 2017-2021 and draft Community Engagement Strategy 2017-2021 Summary are available at Council’s Customer Service Centres, libraries and website until Sunday, 24 September.
