Food truck festival ready to roll into Logan
Published: 11 Mar 2015
Food trucks are fast becoming the hottest dining sensation, and aficionados of LA-style street feasts are in for a treat as the Eats and Beats pop-up festival rolls into Logan.
When it launches at 5.30pm on Friday 27 March, Eats and Beats will become one of Queensland's largest food truck events, with the addition of live music set to create a unique night market atmosphere.
Taking advantage of the City of Logan's ideal location, the first edition of the Eats and Beats pop-up series will be held at the Ikea Logan forecourt making it readily accessible to people from across South-East Queensland.
A total of ten trucks will attend including the hugely popular King of Wings, Little Back, Viva Paella and Vira Lata, which have all amassed large social media followings.
City of Logan Mayor Pam Parker said Eats and Beats will provide an opportunity for people to try some exciting food options and enjoy free entertainment in a family friendly atmosphere.
"Eats and Beats will satisfy the taste buds of even the biggest foodies and will also provide a platform for artists from our region to perform," she said.
"This will be a fantastic event for the whole family and is really a first of its kind in Logan.
"There will be plenty of variety and we are excited to be hosting an event that will attract new visitors to our city and give local residents an enjoyable night out."
In addition to the food trucks, there will be live performances from Dave Powers and well-known Brisbane bands Neighbour, Inigo and Pocket Love.
Governance, Finance and Economic Development Committee Chair, Councillor Luke Smith (Division 6), said it would be a very exciting event that will help showcase our city.
"Many of these food trucks have large social media followings and very loyal customers and the event will encourage our neighbours in Brisbane, the Gold Coast and surrounds to come and experience the exciting things happening in Logan," he said.
"It will also provide another local entertainment option for our residents and the beauty of a pop-up series with no fixed location is that each event will help promote a different part of our city.
"Nearby businesses including Ikea and The Coffee Club will also be open on the night and we are anticipating a financial boost to these venues, however, since this is our first event we will monitor the flow on effects, which we expect to be positive."
Eats and Beats will run from 5.30pm to 9.00pm Friday 27 March. Entry is free and free undercover parking will be available at IKEA and Logan Mega Centre.
