Logan residents are being urged to turn out and show their support for the SEQ Stars Women’s Women’s National Basketball League (WNBL) team when they play the Canberra University Capitals on their home court at the Logan Metro Indoor Sports Centre on Sunday 14 February.
City of Logan Mayor, Pam Parker, said Valentine’s Day was the perfect opportunity for Logan’s sports lovers to show their support for a local team that was battling against the odds and winning.
“The SEQ Stars have really shown what they are made of in the past fortnight,” she said.
“Despite financial trouble behind the scenes, the team has performed magnificently, winning their two away matches last weekend, putting them in finals contention.
“Thanks to the support of some generous people in the local community, they're back on the court on Sunday for their final home game of the season and we want everyone to come along to celebrate the day of love and show their love of women's sport by getting behind the girls.”
The team is currently running fourth in the league and have won their last five games.
