Superstars set to attend BDS Logan Sports Awards

Logan is gearing up for its biggest sports awards yet with Superbowl winner and former Logan Thunder player Jesse 'The Monstar' Williams set to make an appearance.

Many sporting superstars started their careers right here in Logan and Jesse, who plays for the Seattle Seahawks and is the first indigenous Australian to win a Superbowl ring, is no different.

Multiple Para-Olympic medallist Karni Liddell is set to host proceedings and attendees will receive a special insight into Jesse's rise to the top of American Football when he joins Shane Webcke on stage for an exclusive Q&A session.

City of Logan Mayor, Pam Parker, said the sports awards are growing every year with a record number of nominations and an even bigger venue this year.

"This year's awards will be a night to remember with fantastic entertainment and special guests including Jesse and Shane set to give the crowd a very unique insight into professional sport at the highest level," she said.

"We are a city with a proud sporting heritage and the gala dinner will be a wonderful way to celebrate our outstanding athletes and the coaches, administrators and others who contribute so much.

"Entries were of a very high standard and it was great to see the range of different sports represented from athletics and football right through to BMX, boxing and gymnastics."

The annual awards, which pay tribute to Logan City's most elite athletes and inspirational sports people, will be announced on Saturday, 14 March 2015 at a prestigious gala dinner at the Logan Metro Indoor Sports Centre.
