Vote now to support Forest of Memories international award bid

Logan Village's famed Forest of Memories living museum needs your support!

Council nominated the Forest of Memories in the international city.people.light competition and it has been chosen for the People's Choice competition.

Councillor Don Petersen (Division 4) said he was thrilled the project had been listed as a finalist among the best of the best urban lighting projects in the world.

"The awards, run by technology company, Philips, and Lighting Urban Community International, recognise projects that use light to 'rehumanise' urban spaces as well as maximising sustainability and improve an area's liveability," he said.

"The Forest of Memories has some strong competition from Denmark, the United Kingdom, South Korea, Spain and Germany, so we need everyone to vote before the end of the month to give us a really good chance of taking out the award."

Cr Petersen said the Forest of Memories was created in August 2013 for Logan Village's 150th anniversary celebrations, and expanded in May 2014 in response to overwhelming community feedback.

"It has really created a sense of pride about our area's local history and reminded many people about why our history as the birthplace of the City of Logan is so special," he said.

"It would be such an honour to receive international recognition – please take a second to cast your vote."
