Christmas on a roll in Logan

Published: 24 Oct 2016

‘On the fifth week of Christmas, my true love gave to me…’

That’s not how the song actually goes, but this year the City of Logan Christmas Festival is not just stopping at 12 days of Christmas, it will roll around the city for five weeks.

Starting in Jimboomba on Friday 18 November, the popular monthly food truck and live music event will visit five locations over consecutive Fridays to share some festive cheer.

Councillor Laurie Smith, City Image Chairperson, said the City of Logan Festival would bring Santa, carols and other live entertainment together for the Christmas roadshow.

"Last year, we decided to transform the traditional City of Logan Christmas celebration from one big community event to a series of events tied in with our Eats and Beats festival,” he said.

“Doing it that way meant we were able to put on a free Christmas event for different communities and each stop we made proved to be a huge success so we are very happy to be doing it again.”

Councillor Smith said the City of Logan Christmas Festival would combine favourite Christmas traditions with Eats and Beats’ much-loved pairing of food trucks and live music.

“As everyone knows, Santa Claus is very busy at this time of year but I have it on good authority from the elves that he’ll be stopping by at these events to hear what Logan children want for Christmas,” he said.

“Delivering presents around the world is demanding job so at least he’ll be able to take a break and have some dinner from any one of the 30-plus food trucks we’ll have at each event.

“There’s so many great food options, people could actually follow the festival around the city and still not try everything.”

Each City of Logan Christmas Festival event will run on Friday between 5pm and 9pm.
