Last chance to catch Logan artist

Published: 01 Jun 2015

An exhibition detailing the personal experience of female family relationships and illness told through lithographs will soon end its showing at the Logan Art Gallery.

The series of works by Springwood artist Nicola Hooper is the culmination of two years' research work while a Masters student at Griffith University, and a further residency studying under a master printer at the Tank Arts Centre in Cairns thanks to a Logan Regional Arts Development Fund grant.

Sports and Community Services Committee Chair, Cr Russell Lutton (Division 2), encouraged residents to make the time to visit the gallery to catch this and other exhibitions before they moved on.

"We have a wonderful facility right in the heart of the city that regularly features local, young and emerging artists," he said.

"This exhibition explores family relationships, health and wellbeing as expressed though our skin: each bruise, hair and scar.

"I would strongly encourage locals and visitors alike to make the trip and discover what they can find at the Logan Art Gallery."

The Skin I'm In by Nicola Hooper, will be on display at Logan Art Gallery until Saturday 6 June.

Visit the Logan Art Gallery on the Cnr Wembley Road and Jacaranda Avenue, Logan Central, open Tuesday to Saturday 10am to 5pm.
